Never the end

This game is a very difficult 2d platformer with the main 2 mechanics being that the player (as a birb) can fly and dash (which allows the player to go through spikes but not walls). The game has multiple endings, one of which is incredibly difficult to get to and I would suggest you try to get every other ending before it, as it serves as a sort of "true ending".

The game has a speedrun timer on all endings.

Controls:

You can use WASD to fly, and left mouse button to dash.

You can only dash if you are currently holding either A or D, and will dash in the direction associated with that key.

Your dash can go through spikes, but not walls.

Pressing R brings you to your checkpoint, and Pressing B brings you back to the start of the game.

spoilers below:

one ending requires you to glitch through the floor. this can be achieved by flying down into a pit of spikes, you will die, respawn, then fall through the floor. This is because  the game caps movement in all directions but down (so you can dive and gain lots of speed like would be possible with real birds), and this can be used to gain high speeds. Checkpoints, when you respawn, do not reset your velocity, and becuase of this you have a good chance of falling straight through the floor. Since spike colliders are actual colliders instead of triggers, win you hit a spike that is below you it will slow you down, as the collider will try to push you up. Because of this, it is best to hit a spike on the sides of the pit to keep your downward velocity.

"Never the end" is a game i made for Birbjam #1, it was the first game i ever completed, also making Birbjam the first game jam i've ever participated in.
